Awards

1) IOF President's Awards

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) President's Awards honour IOF members from different regions of the world who have made a significant and unstinting contribution to the advancement of the work of the IOF, through furthering one or more of the mission statements and/or goals of the Foundation. Recipients are selected by the IOF President, with the approval of the IOF Executive Committee.

2) IOF Medal of Achievement

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) Medal of Achievement honours individual researchers who have significantly advanced the field of osteoporosis through their original and outstanding scientific contributions. The award underlines important aspects of IOF's mission - to increase understanding and awareness of osteoporosis and to promote medical innovation. The IOF Medal of Achievement, which includes CHF 1500 in prize money, is presented every year during the WCO-IOF-ESCEO congress. Candidates are nominated by members of IOF's Committee of Scientific Advisors (CSA) and the winner selected by the Chair of the CSA with the approval of the IOF Executive Committee.

3) IOF Olof Johnell Science Award

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) Olof Johnell Science Award, named in honour of the late Professor Olof Johnell is awarded every year during the WCO-IOF-ESCEO congress. The Award honours an individual who has contributed to the field of osteoporosis in a scientific or policy implementation area, worldwide. The award winner also receives CHF 1500 in prize money. The candidates will be nominated by IOF members and the winner chosen by the IOF Board.

4) IOF Committee of National Societies Award

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) Committee of National Societies Medal honours an individual who has made an important contribution to IOFs Committee of National Societies (CNS) through active participation in CNS activities and by expanding IOF's message and outreach in his/her country. An IOF Committee selects the winner, with the approval of the IOF Executive Committee.

5) ESCEO-MSD Fellowships

The ESCEO-MSD Fellowships, supported by a grant from MSD, are given to young investigators for their future contributions in the field of bone and mineral research.

The 2 fellowships of 12.500 USD each will be distributed at the WCO-IOF-ESCEO Annual Meeting.

Award Recipients must:

  • Be the first or presenting author of the abstract
  • Prove less than 15 years since the completion of the highest degree

The above eligibility criteria include students or trainees who have not yet obtained their doctoral degree.

These fellowships would be selected based on submission of the proposed research to be conducted.

6) ESCEO-Eli Lilly Scholarships

The value of these scholarships will be:

  • Free registration to the meeting
  • 1.000 USD if the applicant did not submit any abstract to the WCO16 Congress
  • 1.500 USD if the applicant (only first author) submitted an abstract to the WCO16 Congress

Free registration (value 995 euros) will be granted to applicants ranked between 100 and 300.

Requirements

  • Applicants were born after January 1, 1970
  • Recipients will attend the WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2016 in Malaga on April 14-17, 2016
  • Recipients are physicians with a special interest (trained or in training) in metabolic bone diseases and/or musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Recipients are citizens or residents of the following countries:

  • A copy of the applicant's passport or photo ID (with the date of birth)
  • A copy of the abstract (if submission)

Applications will only be validated after the reception of a confirmation email from Sophie Leisten (No exception will be granted).

Deadlines

  • Applications with an abstract: January 15, 2016
  • Applications without an abstract: February 15, 2016

Scholarships recipients will be selected from February 15, 2016 and notice will be provided no later than February 22, 2016.

The Scholarships will be presented during the WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2016 Congress on Saturday April 16th, 2016 from 18h30 to 19h30. Venue to be confirmed.

Failure to attend the reception will result in the cancellation of the Scholarship (no exception will be granted).

7) ESCEO-AgNovos Healthcare Young Investigator Awards

Value

The value of each award will be 2.500 euros

Requirements

  • To be born after January 1, 1980
  • To attend the WCO-IOF-ESCEO Congress 2016 in Malaga on April 14-17, 2016.
  • To submit an abstract which is related to bone strength, bone quality, falls risk, primary or secondary fracture prevention or multi-disciplinary post-fracture care, through the official website (www.wco-iof-esceo.org) and, before the deadline of January 15, 2016.
  • To be citizen or resident from:

Application

The applicant to the ESCEO - AgNovos Healthcare Young Investigator Awards must send an email to Mrs. Laura Bechoux (bechoux@humacom.com) at Humacom including:

  • A copy of the applicant’s passport or photo ID (with the date of birth)
  • A copy of the abstract submitted through the official website (www.wco-iof-esceo.org) and, before the deadline of January 15, 2016.

Award recipients must be the first or presenting author of the abstract.

Applications will only be validated after the reception of a confirmation email from Laura Bechoux (No exception will be granted).

Deadline

Abstracts can be submitted until January 15, 2016 on www.wco-iof-esceo.org.

Recipients will be selected based on their abstracts by the ESCEO Scientific Advisory Board during the last week of January 2016 and notice will be provided no later than February 15, 2016.

The Awards will be presented during the WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2016 Congress on Saturday April, 16 (time and venue to be confirmed). Failure to attend the reception will result in the cancellation of the Award (no exception will be granted).
